What do I do if my vacuum cleaner stops working?
First, make sure that your vacuum cleaner is correctly plugged and the power button is switched to the "on" position. If your vacuum cleaner is still not working after youve checked the plug and power button, review the following checklist:
- Check the brush roll and replace it if the bristles are worn.
- Check the belt and replace if it is broken or worn.
- Check the filter bag and replace if it is full. If you have been vacuuming up fine dust, such as drywall, the bag will need to be replaced more frequently.
- Check the nozzle, tube or hose for possible clogging. If there is any blockage, remove the obstruction from the air stream.
- Check to see if the filter is blocked. Clean or replace clogged filters according to the Owner's Guide instructions.
- Check that the hose adapter is inserted into the filter bag.
If you have reviewed the checklist and corrected any problems, and your vacuum still does not work properly, please contact the nearest Eureka service center or warranty station for assistance. Visit our online service locator to find the warranty station or service center nearest you.

How do I change a bag, belt or filter on my cleaner?
These procedures vary from model to model. Consult your Eureka Owner's Guide for proper maintenance instructions.
-
Why are my belts breaking after a short period of time?
Try raising the height adjustment to a higher setting and avoid sucking up rug corners into the vacuum. You should also check for debris that may have wrapped around the brush roll.

The main vacuum suction is fine, but the onboard tools don't draw in air or debris.
First, check the hose to make sure that a foreign object isn't blocking airflow. Next, make sure the airflow switch is set correctly. Many models have a switch that changes the suction from the main vacuum to the hose attachment.

My vacuum is hard to push. How do I fix this?
First, see if the belt is loose or broken. If it is, replace it. Next, make sure the wheels on your vacuum are turning freely. Finally, check your carpet height adjustment setting. To find the best height adjustment setting, put the vacuum in the normal resting position. Turn the height adjustment to the highest setting. Turn on the vacuum and release the handle. Dial the setting down, one at a time, until you hear the tone change. This is the best setting for your carpet. If you change carpets, remember to adjust the setting for the new carpet.
-
Why won't my vacuum turn on?
Once your vacuum is plugged in, see if the on-off switch is stuck. If it is, loosen the switch nut by a quarter of a turn. Still not turning on? Check to make sure the power cord receptacle is plugged into the motor housing correctly. If these procedures don't help, take it to your Eureka Warranty Station.
